What's New at U.S. R.G.C.?

August 10th 2024

Dear RGC Patrons,

Good News/Bad News.  Our web host, through a migration error for security updates, (Yes, the glitch that made the news) LOST ALL OF OUR PRODUCT LISTINGS AND PRODUCTS.  Essentially, the E-Commerce portion of the site was lost, and lost for good!  This was a disaster for us of epic proportions!!............That was the Bad news.

Brand Spankin' New Website

The good news is that it forced us to rebuild the website, which was something we needed to do really,...in 2023.  Every so often, a website needs to be rebuilt.  The recent RGC Web site was built in 2014, and the platform that was designed in the mid-1990's!.....So, the old site was......old.  That Web Home served us well for years though, and we are grateful. While it was SUPER SECURE, and all of the product pages were undisguised "MCSSL" pages, The new Microsoft EDGE Browser, and one other, didn't recognize our security certificate.  Our Security Certificate was registered to our Web Host, not to "ReplicaGuns.com" directly, and there was no way to link it to the old platform.  Bottom line: Even though our security certificate was always up to date, and the site was uber-secure, if you opened the site in the EDGE Browser, you get a very scary warning message, and there was no way for us to fix it, except to replace the entire site on a different (Not Outdated) platform.  We're gun guys here, not computer guys, so it wasn't easy.

Anyway, the NEW and improved site is finished.....Except for (As of 8-16-2024) product upload and the Photo Gallery.  As soon as we do that, we will flip the switch, and the new site will go live.  We are anticipating January 1st 2025.  The new site has been streamlined, and is cleaner, easier to navigate and maintain.  It is 2025 (Not 1995!) state of the art.

That being said, it was my STRONG DESIRE to have the new site maintain continuity with the old one.  We have a unique and specialized product line, so I didn't want the new site to look like a cookie cutter website that purveys in clothing or sundries.  More than half of our patrons are repeat customers, and I wanted to maintain a look to our site that is familiar, and retains our company's personality. I think we did a pretty good job.

We are continuing to add, and tweak, and work on the site, and we appreciate your patience during the remodel, and thank you for taking the time to read this. We also listen to suggestions, and are happy to hear comments, advice, and criticisms.

Sincerely,

G. Vincent Caprio
